About

I just realized that this section hasn't been updated since about 2012.  Going into 2015, I thought it was time for an update.  Let's see... I'm still married and still have my 2 kiddos.  But now, I'm rolling up on 35 in February.  The good news is, I've stayed with moderate eating and activity and my weight is now in the  170's on average.  I need to work on that last 20, and I guess that is what I will be doing.  I'm not ending 2014 on a 'high' note as far as weight goes, but everything else about this year has gone pretty well.  I've been finding creative outlets, finishing projects, having fun with the fam, and purging the house of stuff we don't need.  All in all, it's been successful and I hope the same for the coming year. One thing you may notice that is different about my blog vs. just a few years ago is that I don't fully focus on weight loss anymore.  While it is important to me, as I get older I've been seeing that all of the other parts of me are just as important if not more so.  I want to be healthy and active, but I also like discovering fun ways to let out my creativity, getting rid of debt, and organizing.  Then, of course, there is just the fact that it's awesome to have somewhere to go to talk about the random, and sometimes overwhelming, things that pop into my head!

I know this is the place where I am suppose to talk about myself so that everyone can get to know me.  So, here's the story.  I am a married woman with two children.  I use to work, but since having my kiddos, I have been staying at home with them.  I am 5'4'', 32, and I started out my journey this time weighing in at 216.5lbs. as of 12/26/2010.  I have an hourglass shape, so overall, I carry my weight pretty well.  I started out in at the end of 2010 and then 2011 with lowered carbs.

This was not my first time doing low carb.  The first time was back in '04.  I was diagnosed with PCOS and researched that low carb was pretty much the way to go if I wanted to get my health in order.  I started right away and lost 25 pounds pretty fast.  Then, I found out I was preggo after trying for 3yrs.!  After my child was born, I decided that I would go with the flow and worry about my weight later.  Too much going on then with a new baby, military life, moves, etc.  So, after we moved the last time and got settled, I jumped back on LC and over the course of just a few months, lost a little over 40lbs. bringing me to a low of 184.  My high before that was 226.5.  I only saw that low number one time.  But I maintained my weight for a while bouncing between 186 and 192  until we decided to try for a baby again since the first time had taken so long.  THIS time, I got preggo on the first try!  SO, now I have had my second child and had so many family issues I let my weight creep up on me.  I tend to be an emotional eater.  My weight had dropped back down to 199-203 after my baby.  I wish I had stayed there or kept losing!  But it quickly went up.  It is completely due to laziness because it would've been easy to stick to LC IF I had really wanted to.  But it was just 'easier' for me to eat the junk I knew wasn't good for me.  The day after Christmas, I decided it was time to start watching what I was eating and monitoring the carbs.  I was 216.5 when I stepped on the scale.  I did lose some -- 4.0lbs.(212.5) in January.  By my first Feb. weigh-in, it was back up to 216.5.  But by the end of 2 months I had lost just 6lbs.  That means I only lost 2lbs. for February!  The first week or so of March, I decided to drop my carbs down to under 40g to try to get the weight moving.  I stuck to my plan for all of March and part of April until I stalled out...  AGAIN.  At that point, I sat and sat and SAT at the same weight.  After much frustration, I went off plan for a few days and then came back on plan at pretty much Atkins Induction levels.  Suddenly, I had a HUGE drop.  So, I decided to try carb cycling.  I had heard of it before and I did some reading and decided that I could do this.  I could have a cheat day now and then and then come back.  For the month of May, I was able to maintain even with a big vacay to Disney for 2 weeks!

After bouncing around for a while and stalling once more, I knew that the issue was that I was burned out on low carb.  I was in a rut.  So, I've now gone to low cal.  I still try to stick to mostly LC type foods, but I do eat WAY more carbs than before.  I try to stick with 3 meals at 400 each and then 2 snacks at 200 each equaling another 400.  At the end of the day, I'm at 1600 cals.  I may go over a bit and be closer to 1700.  I call this 4 Square, LOL.  I know this may seem high for some, but I'm doing this nice and slow so that will have to do.

Now it's 2012 and I ended 2011 at 196.5 after the holidays.  That means that even with all the ups and downs last year, I lost 20 pounds!  I know that may not be ideal for some, but statistically speaking, I am happy with ending the year lower than I started it.  And I hope to do the same this year.  For now, I am still doing my version of low cal that I call 4 Square but I've hit some kinks.  I am hoping they get worked out soon, though.  I have to stay positive and keep moving forward.

Well, that's it for now.  I plan on updating this every so often just so that it's current.  So, don't be surprised when you see it has been changed!  Good luck to all of us chickies!
