Little by little

Little by little, I think we are beating the crud here.  Which is good -- vacay is in only a few days!  And I don't want all of us to be sick.  Oldest still has a cough, but it's not as often now.  It's usually just first thing in the AM or when he gets too hot.  I have upped his dosages to the full amount to try to knock it out the rest of the way.  Yes, I'm one of those weird parents who does the smallest dosage possible for their kiddos that works.  So, the Mucinex and the Sudafed are in full force.  I just hope that the rest gets kicked out soon.  Even if he went to the Dr., there isn't much more they could do for him.  He has no signs of infection, so there would be no need for antibiotics.  But if it continues, I will take him in.

I have been a busy beaver even while sick the last couple of days.  I did start a blog the other day, but was unable to finish it.  Too much going on!  The kiddos have been a difficult pair except for yesterday and I had so much to do that I wasn't able to get back on.  But oh well!  It is what it is.  LOL

On a good note, my weight this AM is 184!  I was so happy to see that, but at the same time it doesn't seem real.  I have been going through and either donating, selling, or altering my clothes and it still doesn't seem real.  ALL of my 14's fit now and it's awesome!  But at the same time, I am still having a hard time seeing myself smaller.  We went to JCPenney's yesterday just to do pics and some browsing and I kept picking things up thinking they would fit but they were too big.  What's up with that?  And this has been pretty recent that has happened.  I am starting to think that while weight loss is great, its skewing my perception.  I still feel like I look pretty big when in reality, I'm not.  I wonder when my brain will catch up.  I mean, it will catch up... I hope.  LOL  It's just weird to look at things and not really get if they will fit.  Maybe it's just a size thing since I'm trying to lose.  Maybe once I'm at a size and there for a while, I will adjust.  Because even in my own closet I look at things and for a sec I think, I bet that's too small and then it goes right on.  Just weird.

Speaking of clothes, I have managed to save and alter a few of my fave shirts.  I finished them all but two dresses.  One dress was simple -- I had hubby help me with the adjustment straps because I wanted to leave it sorta longish to wear with wedges.  The other dresses are ready to be sewn, I just need to do it.  LOL  I hope to do that this afternoon when hubby is awake.  One of my sweaters had lost it's buttons, so I sewed buttons back on and tightened a few others.  Another shirt had straps that were too long, but weren't adjustable.  I bought it without trying it on!  BAD ME.  So, I pinned them shorter, tried it on, and then hand sewed them and cut the excess off.  I told you about the other shirt... I think.  I Bedazzled it!  It had random holes in it from a seatbelt and it was a NEW shirt worn maybe once so I used that old Bedazzler to put in some metallic studs.  I also added a couple of studs to the sleeves so the ones at the bottom wouldn't look odd.  Saved my shirt and looks CUTE!  Maybe I can load some pics...

Shirt sleeve before -- just plain embroidery.

I added the little silver and gold studs to the center of the flowers.

At the bottom of the shirt where the holes were.  I made a flower design with silver and gold studs of different sizes then added the amber colored stone in the center.

Sorry that the final pic isn't better.  LOL  You can see the studs, but barely.  But I am happy with the result and happy to have saved a couple of shirts and some money by doing it myself.  Just a hem on a dress is freakin' $20.  For a single layer dress!  NUTS.  No thank you!  I'd rather do it myself.  Even if it isn't perfect!!!

Well, I guess I better get off of here.  The natives are restless and it is taking me FOREVER to write this out because I have been interrupted every other word.  Literally.  So, I'm going to go and get some things done around here so that later I can hopefully finish my sewing projects and start getting things set aside to pack.  That is if the kids don't drive me nuts.  I hope when their Dad gets up, he'll play with them and wear them out because I'm about to wear their hind ends out!  Ok ok.  Enough complaining!  Off I go!

  1. Good luck with the sewing, I haven't done any since the first of the year, but I need to get back in the habit. I love re-creating new items out of my old stuff!

  2. I love that you are bedazzling your clothes to fix them. The end result is cute too. A little glitz on a shirt is cute. I do start to get scared when it's all over the place though... it makes me think that somebody was drunk and went bedazzle-crazy.
Your brain will catch up with the weight loss. It's always fun when you first drop a size, but you are kind of hesitant about grabbing the smaller sizes cause your so used to getting your old size. I end up grabbing two sizes of everything that I want to try on for a while.

  3. I know what you mean about hemming. I'm not good at hemming and so I take both mine and DH stuff in to have it done by a professional. We just bought him a couple of pair of slacks that will cost around $25 just to have the pants legs hemmed up a little. But I rather pay that than have him look like an idiot with my crooked sewing! Sheesh.

Feel free to comment -- I love reading them and I try to respond! :D
